Muskrat ControlCall now for Professional Muskrat Removal and Trapping Services.
Muskrat Control If you have muskrats affecting your exterior home, or business property you have come to the right place for professional help. We are professional muskrat trappers or wildlife control technicians. Our main line of work is to remove muskrats that enter into private ponds, waterways, lakes, or ditches. Some examples are: Muskrats that destroy mud banks, water holding ponds, or cause erosion to river banks. A muskrat may enter a property, damaging small trees, and bushes. Muskrats create small dirt holes that undermine land adjacent to waterways. Muskrats also cause damage to golf course ponds. We use the most current muskrat trapping, and control techniques. If you have a muskrat problem, contact us or give us a call to schedule professional coaching or our muskrat removal services.
WHAT ARE MUSKRAT CHARACTERISTICS? Muskrats are the biggest rodents in the United States and as they are aquatic animals, they spend most of their time in and under water. Most muskrats are about four times the size of a regular rat. Their thick fur is water-proof, their front feet small and hand-like, and the hind feet are partially webbed. So that they can easily maneuver in the water, muskrats have long, oar-like tails, small eyes and ears and tiny front hands that are perfect for digging. Muskrat fur color can range anywhere from tan to reddish-brown to black. Muskrats are nocturnal and thrive most anywhere that they can find water, including wetlands, streams, swamps, ponds, ditches and lakes, and sometimes back-yard ponds and pools. Muskrats use plant materials to build cone-shaped houses. WHAT DO MUSKRATS EAT? A hungry muskrat will be satisfied with just about any aquatic vegetation, as well as crops from fields. Cattail, bulrush, duck potato and water lily are some of the favorite muskrat delicacies. Corn, soybeans, wheat and oats are crops that muskrats will not hesitate to pluck and munch on. Grasses and clovers are also not exempt from the muskrat’s foraging. If they don’t eat these plants, they use them for homes. WHAT KIND OF MUSKRAT DAMAGE IS THERE? Pond dams, marinas, docks and boat houses are all prey to muskrat burrowing, the worst damage these animals can do on your property. Flood damage could ensue because of bank erosion if you have a lake or pond near your home and muskrats are digging in and around the shoreline. Water can destroy the foundations of structures and cause flooding in homes, garages and cabins. Forests and farm lands near your home or business can also be flooded by muskrats. Roads can be washed out by muskrat activity. Burrows surrounding the banks of ponds or lakes in your yard and golf course can be a hazard for golfers and children to trip in and break ankles and legs. Water-storage ponds can be ruptured by muskrats. They also dig holes in ditches, which causes muskrat flooding and damage. Muskrats will burrow into levees and eat rice or use it to build their homes. Farmers could see major economic losses if muskrats were living near their crops, especially in areas where rice is grown. Aquatic vegetation can be entirely ripped out and eliminated by muskrat feeding. Muskrats may fall down into window wells and mechanical boxes in their search for food and housing materials and die. Muskrat activity contaminates swimming pools and manmade back-yard ponds with parasites and disease. Raccoons, mink, fox and coyotes all prey on muskrats and will enter your yard and cause their own pest problems and dangers while hunting muskrats. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SOLVE MY MUSKRAT PROBLEM?
