Since most of us don’t venture into the attic much, except for going through forgotten treasures once every move across state, there can be a lot going on up there that we may not be aware of until some disconcerting scurrying sounds sneak through one of those rare quiet moments, or a dryer goes on the fritz, or, heaven forbid, you’re walking from your bedroom into your kitchen and wonder why no one’s taken out the garbage for the past couple weeks.

For rats in an attic, trapping is preferable over using store purchased rodenticide since a poisoned rat will crawl deep behind torn insulation into your rafters and walls where, in 3 to 5 days it will die from internal hemorrhage, bloat, then leak its internal fluids. Nasty scene─and not just for the rat. You don’t want dead rats in very difficult places to reach nor do you want to have to go in and try to find the source of a smell that will be so pervasive it will be difficult to tell exactly where it’s coming from.
