Snake Removal

Snake removal

Having a snake problem, whether that’s one really big one, or a lot of little ones, can be overwhelming just ask my mom. Ever seen a 72 year old running around with a shovel in her hand chasing the ‘umpteenth’ snake this week (in her words), out of her garage or flower bed?

It would be tough for me to tell her that she has that many snakes because her house boasts the perfect conditions for their living comfort lots of food and an enormous rock wall bordering the west side of the house. I don’t think she’s going to have that huge rock wall removed and though she might admit they’re a great help in keeping the rat and mice population at bay, she’s still pretty sick of stepping on the slithery creatures every time she walks into the garage or works in the flower bed.

Though it can be tempting (see mother with shovel in hand) to have the instant gratification of handling a problem ourselves, snakes haven’t survived as one of this planet’s most ancient residents haphazardly, and even my tenacious mom finally had to call in some professional help for her snake removal, those with tools a little more high tech than a shovel.

The United States is home to over 100 different snake species, and even though only four of these species are venomous, many of their benign relatives have wisely adopted a no-touch policy, evolving characteristics and color patterns very similiar to their poisonous cousins so it’s best not to take the chance at snake removal, either by risking capture of the snake (65% of snakebites occur on the hands or arms in urban areas for this very reason) or killing it, in which case you are removing an important environmental allie.

All snakes are carnivorous (so they won’t be destroying your flower bed, though they may surprise you in it), and are extremely helpful in removing pests from your property such as mice and rats, insects and frogs, but once they reach epic porportions in size, frequency, or number, it’s time to call in some help.

At Bird and Animal Control we are professional trappers, having the resources, tools, and experience to help you out of your slithery situation in a safe and efficient manner. Knowing you have a snake infestation by sight is one thing, but snakes are designed by nature to fit into, through, and around tight spaces traits perfectly suited to their hunter lifestyle but rather unseeable without special equipment and knowlege to locate them. Using a variety of special fiber optic and infrared cameras, live traps, body-gripping traps, and snake tongs, we can safely assess, locate, remove and block-out snake infestation from your home or business.
