Woodpecker Control

If you have woodpeckers drumming, drilling, living, or roosting on the siding of your home or business you have come to the right place for professional help. We are professional woodpecker removal or wildlife control technicians. Our main line of work is to remove woodpeckers that roost or cause problems to man made structures. Some examples are: Woodpeckers that drum, drill, or live in nesting areas where they have created holes in wood siding or stucco. As the young woodpeckers develop they will contaminate attics, rooftops and wall cavities with their woodpecker Urine and waste. When woodpeckers bare there young, they sometimes die causing tremendous odor problems. Woodpeckers contaminate the inside of a building with waste and bird mites. We use the most current woodpecker live repellents, and exclusionary techniques. NOTE woodpeckers are federally protected. If you have a woodpecker problem, contact us or give us a call to hire our professional coaching, or woodpecker removal and control services.

WHAT ARE WOODPECKER-FLICKER CHARACTERISTICS?

Woodpeckers or flickers have stiff tail feathers and two sharp-clawed toes that point backward. These two physical traits enable woodpeckers-flicker to cling very easily to tree trunks, branches, homes, businesses, or anything else they may be hammering on. Woodpeckers-flickers usually have some sort of bright-colored patterns on their bodies.

Oftentimes, manmade buildings work just as well as a tree trunk or branch for a woodpecker-flicker home. Woodpecker-flicker habitat has extended to utility poles, wooden fence posts, homes, barns and businesses. In homes and businesses, woodpeckers-flickers will nest in roofs, attics and walls. Simply because you don’t live near a forest doesn’t mean you are safe from woodpecker-flicker damage.

Most woodpeckers-flickers will live year-round in the same area. Woodpeckers-flickers are most likely to make noise on your home or business between February and June, since this timing correlates with mating season and territorial communication.

WHAT DOES A WOODPECKER-FLICKER EAT?

Insects that live in trees and bore into wood are woodpeckers’-flickers’ most favorite dish. But, there are so many different species of woodpeckers-flickers that you may encounter one eating bugs off the ground, and another pecking at berries, nuts, fruits and seeds. Some woodpecker-flicker species even eat tree sap along with tree insects.

WHAT KIND OF WOODPECKER-FLICKER DAMAGE IS THERE?

Most woodpeckers spend their time tapping loudly with their beaks on tree trunks, and other times, on your house or business. Woodpecker-flicker pecking signifies territorial boundaries, and it’s also a very easy way to find grubs living under the bark of the tree or wood on the house or business. A tapping woodpecker-flicker may also be trying to dig a home for itself in the siding of your home, shed or office.

Woodpeckers-flickers can cause a lot of hole damage to homes and other wooden structures. Vacation homes or cabins you may own that are vacant part of the year are in the most critical danger. For this same reason, barns and other extra wooden buildings on your property may see extensive woodpecker-flicker damage.

Wood siding, trim boards, stucco, metal, eaves, window frames and sometimes concrete can all be hot spots for woodpeckers-flickers.

Holes in a utility pole or fence post that a woodpecker-flicker is using for a nesting site will weaken the structure, and a downed or weak utility pole or fence can pose a fire and safety hazard.

A woodpecker-flicker noise can be heard throughout the house or office and be very annoying. The more resonant the drumming sound on an object, the more likely a woodpecker-flicker will use it as a drum.

When woodpeckers-flickers make holes in your trees, often the wounds will attract insects, porcupines and squirrels. Diseases and wood-decaying organisms will find their way into the tree through the woodpecker-flicker wound, which can eventually lead to decay and death of the trees in your yard.
